County Badminton Report

All the events at the Under 12s schools badminton tournament were closely contested and the players enjoyed a good day of competitive play, none more so than James Salter (Reepham High) who won a hat trick of titles.

The first came in the boys singles where Salter proved to be too strong and powerful for the other contestants, where points were needed to sort out the next three places. George Underwood (Blofield Junior) came second, Callum Cox (Blofield Junior) third and Jagan Crane (TSA) fourth. Sam Bartholomew (Hethersett High) won the plate event. Salter then teamed up with Liam Bond (St Williams Junior) to take the boys doubles from James Doggett (Broadland High) and his partner Lawrence Wicks. Salter then continued his dominance of the tournament, taking his third title in the mixed doubles with his partner Atlanta Harrison (Falcon Middle), winning a closely contested final against Crane and Beth Underwood (TSA). Underwood picked up her first title of the day in the girls singles with a series of accurate and well placed shots. Harrison was a worthy runner-up, with Rachel Copley (Woodland View Junior) in third place.

Underwood partnered Harrison to win her second title in the girls doubles with Alex Beadnell and Annie Coa (Notre Dame) coming second.
