Farewell to Plane and Hudson
It was not just any old county match. It was the match at which those two badminton legends, Eric Plane and Tim Hudson-Church said their farewells to Norfolk after a combined 47 years of county play. Eric was just 14 years old when he reached his first county final and, since then, he has represented Norfolk for over 30 years and has won more than 50 county titles, as well as numerous trophies at open tournaments throughout the country.
In 1977 he teamed up with Tim, who was then playing for Suffolk, and formed a formidable partnership, which was further strenghened when Tim moved to Norfolk in the early nineties. At a special presentation, Maureen Lincoln, the NBA president, referred to their outstanding achievement and their total commitment and dedication to Norfolk county badminton. They are currently Over 40s National and European champions and Maureen wished them even further success in their national and international veterans careers, starting next weekend at the Yonex All England Seniors Championships to be played at York.
