County Badminton Report

The county first and second teams both had convincing victories over Leicestershire 2 and 3 in the Inter County Championships. The first team won their match 10-5 largely due to the form of their women, who took all six of their games, with Julie Pike and Louise Culyer comfortably winning their singles and then teaming up to take both their doubles games. Katherine Cooper and Toni Sturgeon, back in action for the first time this season, also won both of their matches

The men found life more difficult, with Ian Murphy and Michael Philpott both losing their singles in two sets. Murphy and Justin Gerrard teamed up to win one of their doubles, whilst Philpott and Paul Daynes missed out in both.

But, with the match score at 7-5, the Norfolk's mixed doubles pairings proved too strong for the visitors, with Murphy and Cooper, Gerrard and Pike and Philpott and Culyer all winning their final games.
