Donna Kellogg Visit
West Norfolk Junior Badminton was delighted to welcome ex-Great Britain player Donna Kellogg MBE to coach their regular training sessions last Sunday.
Donna had a career high world ranking of 4 in women’s doubles, she was a triple Olympian and gold medallist at European and Commonwealth Games level. She has also won 11 national doubles titles. She and Anthony Clark were mixed doubles runners up in the World Championships in 2006. She is now a coach for Team Derby in the new National Badminton League, and we were very privileged to see her here in West Norfolk.
Donna brought along her Team GB tracksuit from the last Olympic Games she played in, plus her silver medal from the World Championships and 2 European Gold medals for the players to see, as well as autographing bags and kit for many of the children.
Donna coached all three training groups at the West Norfolk development squad in the afternoon, as well as an extra two sessions at Lynnsport in the morning for a selection of children from the various junior badminton clubs across West Norfolk.
All the children thoroughly enjoyed learning from her coaching and playing skills, as well as gaining an insight into what makes a champion badminton player.
The West Norfolk Junior Badminton committee thanks Donna for coming to King’s Lynn and hope to see her again at our training squads in the near future.
West Norfolk Junior Badminton is sponsored by Roythorne’s Garage of North Wootton.
